A brake pad is made up of two parts: the steel base and the material that causes friction with the disk. The friction materials can be made up of a variety of materials, which can be classified into two groups: organic materials and sintered materials.

Not all motorbikes are the same, nor are tracks or individual requirements. Each bike has
different features, as does each track and, more importantly, the rider.
This is why the Brembo catalogue contains different friction materials to meet all requirements.

GENERAL :
There are various types of friction materials, which fall into tow main categories:
carbon-ceramic materials and sintered materials. Both are available in four different versions,
racing, road, off-road and scooter.

RUNNING-IN :
It is very important to run in brake pads to obtain maximum performance by the material used,
and this should be done with great care.

1) Carbon-ceramic materials: these require progressive thermal running-in and the avoidance of
sharp prolonged braking (high speed plus high deceleration) for the first hundred times. This
will prevent vitrifiction of the surface layer of the brake pads and guarantee maximum
efficient for their entire working life.

2) Sintered materials: these do not normally require thermal running-in but the brake should be
applied smoothly about 30 times to achieve optimal performance.

GENUINE PART

These are original spares for Brembo calipers.
When you buy these brake pads, they will be made of exactly the same material used by the bike
manufacturer following extremely rigorous development tests. You'll find the pad "genuine pads"
with the code: "07BB.... genuine"
Example: "07BB0110 genuine"

I. COMPETITION COMPOUNDS
The main features of this type of material are high friction and consistent performance particularly when the discs are very hot.
These features guarantee excellent, uniform braking throughout the race and reduce the probability of fading effects.
This is why efficiency at low temperatures is less important. These materials are not particularly suitable for road use.

SC-Sintered racing compound
This sintered material is specific for racing, with a high coefficient of friction,
particularly for the high operating temperatures typical of racing. It is not indicated for road use.
Example of code for SC compound: "07YA23SC"
Important: do not use SC compound for the rear brake.

RC Carbon-ceramic racing compound:
An innovative material, specifically formulated for racing applications, where it excels due to
its high-temperature resistance. So excellent braking control plus resistance in severe
conditions make this ideal material for top performance racing applications.
Example of code of RC compound: "07HO28RC"
Only for racing use.
